Mark Millar is a Scottish comics writer whose career rose to prominence when he took over the title The Authority, published under DC’s Wildstorm imprint. He became a central figure both through work for major publishers — notably at Marvel on titles such as The Ultimates, X‑Men, Fantastic Four and the mini‑series Civil War — and through creator‑owned series collected under the Millarworld imprint. His original stories have frequently led to prominent adaptations: Wanted, Kick‑Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Jupiter’s Legacy and Super Crooks have been adapted for film, television and video games, and his storylines such as Old Man Logan and Civil War inspired high‑grossing films. Millar also serves as an executive producer on adaptations of his work. In addition to his creative output, he has held advisory roles for studios and in 2013 was appointed MBE for services to arts and literature. His career began on the British 2000 AD scene, included collaborations with figures such as Grant Morrison, and successfully transitioned to the North American market, establishing him as an influential author in contemporary comics.
