Alexandra Louise Marie Olga Elisabeth Therese Vera, known as the Princess of Hanover, was born into and married into a prominent European royal family. The daughter of Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover, and Princess Thyra of Denmark, she had dynastic ties to the British, Danish and German royal houses, reflecting the kinship networks that characterized nineteenth‑ and early twentieth‑century nobility. In 1904 she married Frederick Francis IV, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg‑Schwerin, a union that placed her among the leading German courts of the time. The marriage produced five children, including the titular successor Frederick Francis, and offspring who formed alliances with other royal houses such as Schleswig‑Holstein and the Prussian dynasty. Alexandra’s life unfolded amid political changes in Europe and the waning governmental role of monarchies after the two world wars, yet she remained a figure of dynastic continuity. Her legacy is chiefly genealogical and representative, preserved in collections and iconographic archives that document the connections among European royal families.
