Rowan Douglas Williams, Baron Williams of Oystermouth, is a Welsh Anglican bishop, theologian and poet who served as the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012. Before that he was Bishop of Monmouth and Archbishop of Wales, and he built a distinguished academic career at Cambridge and Oxford, where he taught theology and held the Lady Margaret Professorship at Oxford. Known for his scholarship, he speaks several languages and has published essays and poems with a strong spiritual emphasis.
