Sharon Gless is an American actress whose prominence on television was established in the 1970s and 1980s. After years in supporting roles and under studio contracts, she rose to attention as Maggie Philbin on Switch and achieved wide recognition for her portrayal of Detective Christine Cagney in the acclaimed series Cagney & Lacey. That role brought her critical notice and major awards, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe in the mid-1980s.
In addition to Cagney & Lacey, Gless headlined The Trials of Rosie O'Neill, a series created by producer Barney Rosenzweig, whom she later married, and went on to take significant roles in Queer as Folk and Burn Notice, showing versatility in dramas and cable television productions.
