Adolf Reinach was a German philosopher and jurist associated with the realist strand of phenomenology developed at the Munich school. Trained in philosophy and law, he distinguished himself as a student of Theodor Lipps and as an assistant to Edmund Husserl, participating actively in the phenomenological circles in Göttingen and helping to found the Jahrbuch für Philosophie und phänomenologische Forschung. His academic work included lectures on Plato, Kant and introductions to phenomenology, and he influenced thinkers such as Edith Stein and Dietrich von Hildebrand.

Reinach is especially remembered for his pioneering study of the a priori foundations of civil law, a work that anticipated central themes of the theory of speech acts later developed by Austin and Searle. His research linked a phenomenological analysis of meaning with legal questions, offering a theoretical basis for normative concepts and for responsibility in law.

In addition to articles on epistemology and ethics, he published on Kant, Hume and issues of negative judgment. His career was interrupted by the First World War, in which he volunteered for the army and was killed in action in 1917, leaving a significant legacy in the philosophy of law and in phenomenology.
