Baháʼu'lláh, born Mírzá Ḥusayn-ʻAlí Núrí, was the founder of the Bahá'í Faith and the central figure of a religious movement that emerged in the 19th century from Bábism. Recognized by his followers as the prophetic manifestation promised by the Báb, Baháʼu'lláh claimed a religious vocation that proposed the unity of religions and the spiritual renewal of society. His most influential works include the Kitáb-i-Aqdas and the Kitáb-i-Íqán, texts that are fundamental to Bahá'í doctrine and the organization of the community. Coming from a noble family connected to the Persian court, he distinguished himself early for his scholarship and social engagement, avoiding political office in favor of charitable work and advocacy for the poor. His public life was marked by imprisonment, torture and successive exiles driven by persecution of the Báb’s followers, events that culminated in his departure from Persia and a long residence in the Ottoman Empire. During exile he produced a large body of literature and organized his followers, while confronting internal divisions and external opposition. Baháʼu'lláh’s legacy lies chiefly in the establishment of a new global religious community, emphasizing human unity, social justice and canonical texts that guide the beliefs and practices of Bahá'ís.
