David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, known professionally as David Linley, is a prominent figure in interior design and the British aristocracy. The son of Princess Margaret and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, he made his name as a maker of furniture and decorative objects with a strong neoclassical influence and elaborate use of marquetry woods. In 1985 he founded the LINLEY brand, which brought him recognition for high-end commissions, including prominent international clients.

Beyond his craft work, Linley established a presence in the art and auction market: in 2006 he was announced as chairman of Christie’s in the United Kingdom, a position he held before moving to an honorary role covering Europe, the Middle East, Russia and India. His career blends traditional craftsmanship with cultural management in arts institutions.

David’s public life is also defined by his status as a member of the royal family — nephew of Queen Elizabeth II and cousin of King Charles III — and by personal episodes that received widespread media attention. His legacy lies in the renewed appreciation of contemporary British luxury furniture and in bridging traditional craft with the global art and design market.
