Evgeni Viktorovich Plushenko is a former Russian figure skater known for a long, high-level competitive career and for influencing the sport’s technical development. A two-time Olympic team gold medalist (2014) and the 2006 Olympic individual champion in Turin, he also won two Olympic silver medals (2002, 2010), three World Championships and seven European titles, as well as ten Russian national championships. He holds the record for most Grand Prix circuit victories, with 22 titles.

Trained at centers in Volgograd and later Saint Petersburg under Alexei Mishin, Plushenko rose to prominence in his teens, becoming World Junior champion at 14 and a senior medalist at 15. Renowned for his refined technique—especially his emphasis on quadruple jumps—his career included surgeries and comebacks that preceded further successful competitive returns.

Beyond his results, he played a central role in Russian figure skating in the early 2000s, engaging in high-profile rivalries and helping keep the country internationally visible in the sport. He also participated in prominent artistic performances, including televised pairings and shows, contributing to his legacy as one of the most influential names in Russian figure skating.
