Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was the 67th United States Secretary of State, serving in the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama.
She was a U.S. Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009 and, as the wife of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, also served as the 44th First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
In 1994, as First Lady of the United States, her major initiative to reform the country’s health care failed to gain approval from the U.S. Congress.
She was one of the leading candidates in the Democratic Party primaries for the 2008 United States presidential election.
