Jean Brooks, born Ruby Matilda Kelly, was an American actress and singer active mainly in the 1930s and 1940s. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she began her career as a singer at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York and appeared in English- and Spanish-language productions for studios such as Paramount, Universal and, most prominently, RKO Radio Pictures. At RKO she achieved her most notable roles, appearing in popular series like The Falcon and earning critical notice for her work in the thrillers The Leopard Man (1943) and The Seventh Victim (1943), the latter now remembered as her most striking performance. She later moved to San Francisco, where she lived until her death in 1963.
