Juliet Mills is an English actress who became an American citizen, a member of a prominent theatrical family — the daughter of actor Sir John Mills and the older sister of Hayley Mills. She began as a child actor in film and theatre, earning early recognition: at 18 she was nominated for a Tony for Five Finger Exercise and went on to establish a career across film, television and the stage. In the 1970s she rose to international prominence starring in the series Nanny and the Professor, which brought her Golden Globe nominations, and she was notable on film in Avanti! (1972), considered one of the high points of her filmography. In 1974 she won an Emmy for her performance in the miniseries QB VII. Over the decades she alternated stage repertoire — including membership of the Mirror Repertory Company — with long-running television roles, such as the witch Tabitha Lenox in the soap opera Passions (1999–2008), which earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination. Her career is distinguished by versatility across comedy, drama and fantasy and by her family’s legacy in the performing arts.
