Kendall Francis Schmidt is an American actor and musician, known for playing Kendall Knight in Nickelodeon’s series Big Time Rush and for being a member of the eponymous boy band formed through the show. He began his career as a child in commercials and held roles in television series such as General Hospital, Gilmore Girls, and CSI: Miami, among others, before gaining wider recognition with Big Time Rush.
Alongside acting, Schmidt has worked as a songwriter and guitarist. As a teenager he formed the duo/band Heffron Drive with guitarist Dustin Belt, a project he revived after the series ended that reflects his preference for alternative rock and influences from bands like Incubus and Taking Back Sunday.
Big Time Rush established his prominence in youth entertainment and enabled his transition between television and the music industry. Since then, Kendall has alternated work as a singer, songwriter, and producer, remaining active on tours and in releases both with the television-formed group and in his own projects.
