Kim Hunter, born Janet Cole, was an American actress whose career encompassed film, theatre, and television. She rose to international prominence for portraying Stella Kowalski in the original Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire (1947) and in its film adaptation, a role that earned her the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
