Lloyd Bridges was an American actor whose career spanned more than four decades, with appearances in over 150 films and numerous television series. He became widely identified with the role of diver Mike Nelson in the series Sea Hunt, produced in the late 1950s, which ran for 156 episodes and drew large audiences in the United States. On film, he worked in B movies and westerns in the 1940s and 1950s as well as in classics such as High Noon (1952), building a screen image as a rugged action leading man.

Over the course of his career, Bridges worked across different genres, including late comedies like Airplane! (1980), and took part in productions that brought him renewed visibility in later decades. His career was also marked by political episodes: he testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee during the McCarthy era.

Father of actors Beau and Jeff Bridges, he left both a family and professional legacy in American film and television. He was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and remembered in television tributes and posthumous releases.
