Manuel Martínez del Campo y Cuevas was a Mexican film editor whose career spanned the Hollywood and British film industries. Raised in a cosmopolitan environment—brought up in Brooklyn and educated at Clifton College—he moved to California in the mid-1930s with aspirations of becoming an actor, but established himself behind the scenes as a film editor. In the postwar period he remained in the United Kingdom, where he worked on notable film and television productions such as No Orchids for Miss Blandish (1948) and the series The Adventures of Long John Silver (1958–59), contributing to the editing of episodes that became part of Britain’s entertainment landscape of the time. His biography also includes service in military aviation during the Second World War, when he served as a flight lieutenant with No. 415 Squadron RCAF. Recognized for a discreet but essential role in shaping the narratives of the productions he worked on, del Campo left a technical body of work in cinema before his death in London in 1969. His career illustrates the transatlantic mobility of film professionals in the mid‑twentieth century.
