Prince of Prussia Friedrich Leopold was a member of the German high nobility in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the son of Prince Friedrich Carl of Prussia and Marie Anna of Anhalt‑Dessau. As the couple’s only son, he held a prominent position within the Hohenzollern dynastic network, in which several sisters formed marriages with other European royal houses. On 24 June 1889 he married Princess Louise of Schleswig‑Holstein, his second cousin. The marriage produced four children, among whom those who established succession lines and dynastic alliances are notable: Victoria Margaret, Friedrich Sigismund, Friedrich Karl — killed in action in the First World War — and another son named Friedrich Leopold. Friedrich Leopold’s biography is defined chiefly by his membership in the Prussian aristocracy and by marital connections that reinforced ties among European royal houses.
