Scott Jennings is a conservative political strategist, commentator, and writer from the United States, known for his work on Republican campaigns and for roles in the George W. Bush administration. He began his career on state and federal campaigns — notably serving as political director in Kentucky (2000) and campaign manager for successful bids by Mitch McConnell (2002) and Ernie Fletcher (2003) — and served as Special Assistant to the President and deputy director of political affairs at the White House starting in 2006. After the administration, he moved into strategic communications: he was director of development and senior strategist at a public relations consultancy and, in 2012, co‑founded RunSwitch Public Relations, now one of Kentucky’s largest agencies. At the same time he has worked as a columnist (Louisville Courier‑Journal, Los Angeles Times) and as a commentator on national networks; in 2017 he joined the roster of contributors at CNN. His career has included involvement in public investigations related to the politicization of federal agencies and to the dismissals of U.S. attorneys, in which his actions were cited in documents and testimony. More recently he launched the podcast Flyover Country, focused on discussions of local, state, and national politics, and remains influential within Kentucky’s conservative political circle and in electoral campaigns.
