Sean Young is an American actress known for roles in science fiction films and comedies in the 1980s and 1990s. She rose to prominence with Stripes (1981) and became widely known for her portrayal of Rachael in the cult classic Blade Runner (1982). During the decade she appeared in high-profile productions such as Dune (1984), No Way Out and Wall Street (both 1987), and had roles in popular films like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). Her career alternated between major studio projects and independent work; since the 2000s she has focused mainly on independent projects, with occasional returns to the mainstream circuit, including a role in Blade Runner 2049 (2017), where she also served as an acting coach. In the late 1980s and 1990s she experienced a downturn in her career and spent part of that period living in Sedona, Arizona. In addition to film, Young has worked in television, miniseries and variety shows, and has taken part in experimental and fan projects such as Star Trek: Renegades. Her career combines memorable performances, attempts at artistic reinvention and recognition as a figure associated with genre cinema of the late 20th century.
