Adolf Wilhelm Bernhard von Brauchitsch was an officer of the German Army who reached the rank of brigadier general. Born into a Prussian aristocratic family, he was educated in the officers’ tradition and served in several infantry and guard units during the early decades of the twentieth century. During the First World War he commanded companies and battalions in reserve regiments, receiving promotions and decorations, including both classes of the Iron Cross. In the postwar period he joined the provisional Reichswehr and held positions both in regimental commands and in the Reichswehr Ministry and, for a short time, in the High Command of the Army under Hans von Seeckt. At the end of his career he commanded the 12th Infantry Regiment in Halberstadt and, retiring for health reasons in January 1929, was granted the honorary promotion to major general. He received multiple orders and decorations for his long military service. He belonged to a family network connected to notable military and social figures, among them his brother Walther von Brauchitsch, later a field marshal, and other relatives involved in high‑level motor racing and in later episodes of German history. He died in 1935 in Chemnitz.
