Bonnie Bramlett is an American singer whose soul-rock voice rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s, especially through her partnership with her husband Delaney Bramlett as Delaney & Bonnie (and Friends). The duo recorded for Stax and toured with Eric Clapton; the live album with Clapton found success on the Billboard charts, and singles such as "Never Ending Song of Love" and their covers of Dave Mason songs charted.
Beyond her work as a duo, Bramlett contributed as a songwriter and backing vocalist for major rock and blues artists. She co-wrote the song "Superstar" (later popularized by the Carpenters) and played a role in the creation of "Let It Rain," associated with Eric Clapton. Her career includes appearances on records by artists such as the Allman Brothers Band and Little Feat.
After the artistic and marital split in 1972, she pursued a solo career: she released Sweet Bonnie Bramlett (1973) and the album It’s Time (1975), and continued to work as a performer and studio collaborator. Her legacy is tied to the fusion of soul, R&B, and rock and to her influence as a backing vocalist and songwriter on recordings that defined the late 1960s and early 1970s.
