Augusto de Bragança, Duke of Coimbra, was an infante of the Portuguese royal family and a figure of the 19th century. Born at the Lisbon court, he was the third holder of the dukedom of Coimbra and for a time served as presumptive heir until the birth of the future King Carlos I. His position placed him at the center of dynastic and courtly affairs after the death of Maria II.
He pursued a military career, reaching the rank of division general in the Portuguese Army, reflecting the institutional commitment typical of members of the royal house. He spent part of his life alongside his father and the Countess of Edla, living at the Chalet do Mouco in Sintra, which brought him into contact with influential cultural and social circles of the time.
He owned the Paço de Amora, where he promoted plantings and reconstruction works, leaving a tangible mark on the region, although the property is now in a state of disrepair. He received several honors, notably the Grand Cross of the Order of the Tower and Sword and the Order of Our Lady of the Conception of Vila Viçosa.
He died unmarried and without issue and was buried in the Pantheon of the House of Braganza at São Vicente de Fora, thus ending his direct role in the dynastic line.
