Glen Edward Buxton was an American guitarist best known for his work as an original member of the band Alice Cooper. Known for distinctive riffs that helped define the group's sound, Buxton co‑wrote hits such as “School’s Out,” “I’m Eighteen,” and “Elected,” and is credited as lead guitarist on classic albums, including the band’s most commercially successful era with Billion Dollar Babies. In 2003 he was listed by Rolling Stone among the 100 greatest guitarists, and in 2011 he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the original lineup.
Musically formed during high school in Phoenix, Buxton was a central figure in the evolution of the group that performed under names such as The Spiders and The Nazz before adopting the name Alice Cooper in 1968. His style drew praise for quirky, catchy guitar lines that complemented the songwriting of the other members.
In subsequent years he kept a lower profile, playing sporadically in clubs and regional projects, and remained active on local circuits into the 1990s. His legacy remains tied to the sound and theatrical image of the original Alice Cooper, recognized for its influence on 1970s rock.
