Jean‑Claude Camus is a French concert and theatrical producer and theatre manager, known for professionalizing concert and show production in France beginning in the 1960s. Self‑taught, he began his career in the rock circuit, managing groups such as Les Chats Sauvages and organizing pioneering tours; over the decades he became the producer for names like Johnny Hallyday and Michel Sardou, as well as Sylvie Vartan, Patrick Bruel, France Gall and other chanson and pop artists. In 1977 he founded Zéro Production, taking part in bringing major international shows to France — events such as performances by Bob Marley, Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones marked his co‑production work. At the same time he produced musicals and stage plays, extending his activity to different forms of spectacle. From 2001 he also devoted himself to directing historic theatres in Paris, taking on venues such as the Théâtre de la Porte‑Saint‑Martin and, later, the Petit‑Saint‑Martin and the Madeleine, where he programmed popular, commercially oriented repertoires. In 2008 he sold his production company to the Warner group, retaining a temporary executive stake; he gradually retired from producing to focus on theatre management. Recognized within the field, he chaired professional organizations and received several official honors. In 2017 he published memoirs recounting his career as an influential figure in the modernization of live entertainment in France.
