Prince of Prussia Alexander Ferdinand was a member of the Hohenzollern royal house, grandson of Emperor Wilhelm II, known for his military career and political involvement in the 1930s. The only son of Prince August Wilhelm of Prussia, he held posts in the German armed forces, serving as a first lieutenant in aviation from November 1939, with a posting in Wiesbaden. Part of a segment of the aristocracy that supported the Nazi Party, Alexander followed his father's political orientation, a stance that provoked family tensions within the Hohenzollerns and gave rise to rumors about possible succession plans favoring him. In 1933 he left the SA to join the regular army, retaining his position when many other nobles were removed. He married Irmgard Weygand in 1938 in a union not approved by the family and celebrated without close relatives; they had one son, Stephan Alexander. His public life is tied to the political-military context of interwar Germany and to the complex relationship between the old nobility and the Nazi regime.
